We have to go back a while to remember something we learned long ago to understand how life works.
In Algebra we learned about Equivalent expressions. If you have forgotten they are expressions that work the same even though they look different. If two algebraic expressions are equivalent, then the two expressions have the same value when we plug in the same value(s) for the variable(s). (See the example in the image).
People tend to believe there is only one way to get an answer, solution or to solve a problem when that is not true at all.
We size things up and make determinations that nouns (people, places, or things) will not work out or be successful because a certain formula was not followed. However, we must remember that there is more than one formula to get to the desired end; but there is only one expression that gets you there, and that is faith!
Faith is the “x” factor in everything we do! One singer sang “you GOT to have faith”. When asked how a person made it through harrowing challenges the answer often given is “I kept the faith”.
The Bible describes faith in Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Faith is the matter of what your hoping for! Although we cannot see it, touch it or feel it, it is as real as we are!
It is the necessary expression put in the formula to get the answer!
We can plug in hard work (because it is a necessary component), we can plug in diligence, patience, education, sacrifice because they are also part of the formula; but the x value will always be faith!
The old saying says “there is more than one way to skin a cat” and although I have never tested it out I imagine that it is true! There are multiple paths to success and many formulas to follow; however no one has ever made it to the end goal without faith!
As you journey and step into things unknown remember that the expression of faith will always be the value that propels you to achievement!
